Shadows and Light is a growing community of filmmakers - run by filmmakers, for filmmakers.
At our conferences, screenings and workshops we bring together filmmakers to learn from each other and to be inspired. At our workshops, we get hands on in practical sessions like lighting, audio recording and camera movement, as well as insights from industry leaders on how to best grow your filmmaking businesses, and more. The speakers and workshop leaders in our community include luminaries like Philip Bloom, Vincent Laforet, Phil Arntz and James Tonkin.
Online we support one another in wide variety of ways, including sourcing camera and gear for shoots, legal advice, insurance and dealing with tricky clients. Through its combination of online resources and in-person learning and networking, Shadows & Light enables you to become the filmmaker you were meant to be.
Show us your Showreel!
We’ve now run a couple of Shadows & Lights screenings. They’re a great way for existing Shadows & Lighters to catch up, as well as for people new to Shadows & Light to join the family. We use these events to screen our work and show each other what we’ve been up to. The format tends to be: we have a few drinks and a chat, we watch some of our films and then a bit more drinking and chatting. If you have something to screen, then, great, but no problem if you don’t: just come along anyway as it’s a great way to network and meet new collaborators.
If you'd like to screen your showreel, it will be on a first come, first serve basis, please submit a copy to firstname.lastname@example.org
